Brighton and Hove

Following on from yesterday with our Brighton holiday.
Monday was the only very hot sunny day (being a little sun burnt that was a good thing) The rest of the week was a mix of sun, cloud and rain.
The view from our room before the rain
Tuesday we went up into town and did TK Maxx (I needed a new handbag (NOT) as did mum so we brought THREE! I also found that they had a large 'plus' sized department so I brought a couple of new tops for my Orlando convention vacation. OK, for couple I brought six. Well, you need to buy things when you see them don't you?
Lunch was in a great little Italian restaurant called Donatello's good food good price.
Then we made our way back through The Lanes this is a very old area of Brighton with lots of little narrow lanes crisscrossing themselves. South Lanes nearer the beach have a TON of jewellery shops along with a whole host of other fun, funky and interesting little shops. We did make a little visit to my favourite jewellers LOL! By now it was raining but I did have to stop and take a few quick pictures of this car, I just love the paint job
Wednesday we thought we would take a walk along the beach to the next town Hove. A short walk turned into an all day eight miler. Lots of Art Deco, Edwardian and Victorian buildings
I was amazed how well Amy copped and yes, in the afternoon it rained again. So walking in wet squelchy sandals. Oh, such fun! The shops though were a delight a wonderful mix of old and new. We entered the town from the fare end and these shops were nothing to right home about as most 3 in 4 were charity shops. At first we were pretty disappointed and the only places we could see for lunch was two chain restaurants The Slug And Lettuce.... went in no service and not very clean looking with sticky menu's. I feel if front of house is so dirty what will the kitchens be like? So we left and went to the pub/restaurant opposite. Pretty much the same no help un-cleared tables and a group of men chugging on their fags in the doorway..so we left!
Around the corner heading back towards Brighton and everything changed. I spotted a shiny restaurant on the other side of the road. Called Barcode a New York Italian restaurant we were greeted at the door sown to a lovely clean table and handed clean menu's. The waiters were attentive but not overly so made a fuss of the girls and the food was .... exquisite
This was our starter Toast, pate and sweet onion relish
After lunch as we walked back to Brighton so many WONDERFUL shops...in case your wondering we like shops!
Need a nice big cool box on our next visit
This amused us the Pigeons sheltering from the rain
Down a little side road I spotted this interesting house
