I have a Policeman!

Life has been pretty manic over the weekend.
Saturday was VERY hot and humid, mum and dad were here for the day along with my friends two boys who were staying the weekend so she and her partner could go away for the night. I used to take the boys to school each day with Amy but once they moved we no longer see them so much. Amy misses them big time (as do I) so it's nice to have them for the weekend. Anyway as soon as they arrived it was pool time. The pool was still pretty empty of water but what do kids care LOL. After a few minutes one of the boys calls me over he has found a bump under the pool, so in I go think the water would be freezing it was by now just below my knees. YEP! a bump...then another! Should we ignore them and chance it or empty the pool? After some discussion we decided to empty the pool and not chance it. This took until the evening to do!!! Once we had opened the two end plugs the water started to gush out slowly making it's way around the garden and causing mini rivers and floods to pop up all around the garden. Later when the water had stopped running from the bung holes the kids took buckets into the pool and water was whooshed around the garden with great joy and glee.
Once we felt enough water had been removed they all held the side up and I went under and located the lumps, easier said than done I can tell you, but I found them and removed them. Very shape stones that would have most certainly have damaged the pool in the end. THEN we started to re- fill the pool again.
BBQ for dinner but this would not light properly? So after a while I decided to cook indoors but we still all ate in the garden.
Then once my parents had gone home and all the washing up (LOADS of washing up) exhausted everyone went to bed.
Sunday the forecast was for rain but when we got up it was bright and sunny so we breakfasted in the garden with a whole pile of American pancakes. The humidity was way up so much of the day the kids were in the pool giving me a little time to read the papers. By now I was starting to get withdrawal symptoms from not being on the computer but did not want to go indoors and leave the kids in the pool unsupervised. OK, maybe that was a little daft as they are not babies the boys are 13 and 15. LOL
The cats have had spurts of lethargy and lunacy I think the heat was getting to them all. Was getting worried about Tilly as she stopped eating and lethargic but she is fine now so putting it down to her age (17) and the heat.

Oh, and on Saturday the Police doll mum made me order arrived and he is even more detailed than I thought (still having a bit of an issue with the use of Wayne Rooney's head....he's a footballer not a cop????)
So hot my brain had fried so no pictures of the weekend but here are a few of my new guy, photo shoot did not go quite as I wanted but in this house you expect the un-expected!
Got $10 off as the box had a crinkle
Over 40 pieces in this set!
I would like to thank Jordan and Perri for their 'help' today!!!!

Swimming Pool Time

Missed out posting yesterday. It was son dang HOT! Humid hot and knocking on 80! Mind you today is even hotter hitting 80. Yes, I know for some that's a good temperature but I'm English and we are not used to it. To hot to do a lot mum came round to help get the swimming pool out but some we could not do with four so had to wait for dad to come round and them for the heat to dissipate a bit!

Ended up putting in the poles after dinner in the fading light, still warm though! Even a cold shower before bed was little help, so pleased I can across a cool pad such a wonderful invention. I would say if you suffer from the heat or you are that menopause age get one they are not even expensive. For those in England £7.99 from The Range. Can be used in the car, bed chair ....stuffed up you top or down trousers I guess would work too LOL?
Mum and dad back today as mum wants to get as much planting (veg and plants) as she can, I have been keeping her supplied with water, tea and ice cream. I would do my own planting but mum enjoys it and when I do plant something it's never the right place so I long given up.
Dad took another tumble when drilling holes in bases of plant pots...silly old fool! He is fine just a little shaken and another job he will no longer be allowed to do.
My friend popped in for a couple of hours with photo's from her 12 week scan...life is amazing at 8 weeks just a blob and now head, eyes, nose, hands they are all there. I have named the baby Banana and it will be loved by all it's Minions.
Cats have had a wonderful day with first Godfrey, then Perri and later Ike all bringing birds home for my inspection. Unfortunately the birds were all still alive, I'm hoping once removed from the cats that they/it made it back to their families?

There might only be a couple of inches of water in the pool but that was enough for my girls

Vacation Oops's!

So as some of you will already know I'm going to the Fashion Royalty Convention in Orlando. This will be my first time and within minutes (seconds) of my clicking that paypal button the butterflies started up big time. I'm hoping I can find a table with at least ONE person I know, but if not..so be it. Now me and vacations are not always a good mix. My dream vacation to New York ended in Hurricane Sandy. I've had delayed flights because of storms and volcano's. I've flown weeks after 9/11 to USA. I've stayed in hotels where everyone (it felt like everyone) else are from some strange religious sect! I've ended up in hospital in America with a very sick baby and flown home wearing diapers because of a gippy tummy (sorry is that a bit of an over share?) Anyway all I can say is for all those lucky people going to Orlando for convention...Good Luck! This year you could be in for something different! LOL

So what else for today? Well,Perri and Jordan went walk about on my canopy and could not get down! Jordan has just knocked a large glass of water all over the side in my study... boy can water travel!!!!
Been very hot today and although I had a 'to do' list very little got done! Hopping to get at least some way with setting up the pool tomorrow as it's going to be even hotter this week end.
No cat pictures as I just never got around to it LOL

Plants for my garden

Sophie went to London for the day with her collage, I admit that I was a little uneasy with it only hours after the bombing in Manchester. How can someone blow up children? I just do not get it! Anyway Sophie went to London and had a wonderful day, the weather was wonderful just the right sort for walking around in.
I left dad at home waiting in for a couple of parcels and mum Amy and I hit the shops. Well not as fun as it sounds really we went to M&S looking for some shorts for Amy, Tesco for some food and then on to Van Hages for a few plants. Nothing much but still put a ding in my debit card. LOL
Got home just in time for dinner and TV time.
Tomorrow we are going to start getting the swimming pool out...I hope?
Pictures for today,
new plants for my garden
Some light for the garden A need to check they work then I will put them in their new home

Bath Day

Bath Day no it's not that we only bath once a week or anything but once a week I like a looooong bath with a cuppa and the Sunday supplements. It's also the day I wash Amy's hair and yes I do only do this once a week as she has Afro hair and I was told when she was a baby to not was it to often. This is a VERY good thing as with the help of a couple of potions and an Afro comb it takes over an hour to comb and plat. If it's been loose it can take over two hours and don't even go there with when she got nits some years ago! LOL
Today is HOT and going to get a lot hotter towards the weekend. Next weekend is a Bank Holiday and we will be going nowhere, I can't even think what the roads will be like? I'm hoping we can get the pool set up but it can take days to do so maybe not?
New doll arrived today Reception A Versailles Veronique

The jewellery is just perfect as are her shoes, she also come with undies.
Amy in the garden

Godfrey wanted to be in the shade

Jordan wanted to photo bomb Godfrey

Perri in the shade

Both Perri and Jordan have the grumps with me, they both got out of Amy's bedroom window and jumped onto the catio roof. There was no way down from here so it was me to the rescue. Up the ladders I went (I hate ladders anything higher than a step stool is to much for me) So up I go and Perri comes over to see what I'm doing. After a couple of aborted attempts I managed to get him be the scruff and hand him down to Amy. Jordan was watching and was no way coming over to me if I was going to treat HIM in such a manor so sweets were required as a bribe. It worked as there is no way Jordan would not come for his favourite sweet so again scruffed up and passed down to Sophie. Two very miffed boys who will no longer come to me (until dinner time LOL)
Tilly was the only other cat I could find today and she was indoors away from the heat.

I neeeed a holiday!

Did not get up until 10:30am and made pancakes for brunch. By then it was 12:30 and I decided on a pj day LOL. Weather OK so wandered the garden ...with cats. Dead headed a few plants (left them for Sophie to clear away LOL) Yes, it's a very LOL day!!! Read the Sunday papers...pretty boring TONS on Pippa's wedding, she looks OK but poor Kate did Pippa pick it? No worries of Kate outshining Pippa bad colour and the most awful style for her. FRUMP FRUMP FRUMP. Looking at some of the pictures in the Mail on Sunday no one looked nice...well Carol (mother of bride) was passable. So now it's almost 4:30 pm watching Judge Judy on TV and thinking about cooking dinner.
E.mails are all full of vacations, I NEED A VACATION! As soon as dad is fixed we are going for a few days in Brighton. Would love some time in Cornwall as well, along with New York and naturally Miami. The Inn at Key West is calling to me as well! *sigh* I wonder if I will get to any of these places?
So just to upset myself a little more

Not Sewing!

I thought I would make my Ruruko a pretty dress. I had a scrap of cotton gathered at the top (used to be the top of a petticoat. I wanted to add some ribbon and lace so first I needed to find the box with the ribbon and lace in it...Good fun was not had by all as I worked my way through all my newly boxed 'stuff'. Found it in the end and upon opening it I remembered that I dumped everything in it in a rush it was a tangle of lace, elastic and ribbon plus a mix of beads and who knows what else? TWO HOURS yes, TWO HOURS later I had lost the will to live but all was sorted into their little bags!
Oh, another fun find was sticky hand on handling said box...cats marking I'm guessing? YUCK!!!! So I had to clean all the area with antiseptic wipes. The joys of cats!!!!
I had the day off from the girls as they went to my parents for the day and I did not even have to cook dinner as mum did it. A good job she did as I was on wet wipe duty! And that was about it another day other.
Today started with rain lashing down cats in and out and me surfing the net...not for any good reason just procrastinating so I don't have to start on my sewing machine. It's funny as I know once I start I will enjoy myself, I like sewing and making things?
Now ribbon, I'm not into buying it if I can help it (no, I'm not stealing it either) white ribbon I keep from all the Integrity Toys boxes. I also fold most of my tops so I do not need (and find irritating)those little ribbons that hold tops on hangers. Another source of ribbons and fancy bits are Christmas Crackers.I keep them all!
I also need to alter a few things Sophie received for her birthday.

Oh, and I did manage to take up some more time ready the new story by Johanna. Read it, it's brilliant...

Team Husband

Once again I can't be left to do anything on my own and today's helper is Jordan
You can see my ironing mat is on a cutting mat, I was about to remove the cutting mat when my 'helper' arrived. Never do anything involving heat on a cutting mat as the mat will bubble out of shape and will stay like that even when cooled!
